Today I participated in a demonstration in front of the Iraqi Consulate in Manchester to demand the rights of Kurdish civil servants in Kurdistan who are being subjected to punitive measures by Iraq’s Finance Minister Taif Sami.
As a Kurdish residing in the United Kingdom, I consider it my obligation to seek justice and accountability in response to the discriminatory policies implemented by the leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which have directly contributed to the punishment of innocent Kurdish citizens.
We have reiterated our demands that:
📢 Thirty-three years of betrayal must come to an end 📢
🚨 The leadership of PUK and KDP must be held accountable 🚨
💰 The paradise they have built with public funds must be reclaimed – The luxurious establishments and corrupt systems constructed using the nation’s resources must be dismantled and returned to the people.
❌ The suffering they have inflicted upon the nation must cease – The systematic impoverishment and marginalization of Kurdish citizens under their governance must be terminated immediately.
🔥 We will not remain silent while they systematically destroy our nation’s future and the prospects of our people.
📣 The time for genuine transformation has arrived
Our struggle will continue unabated until freedom and justice are achieved for all Kurdish citizens. We demand comprehensive accountability, transparent governance, and an end to the decades-long exploitation of Kurdistan’s resources by corrupt political elites.
The international community must recognize that the current leadership has failed to serve the interests of the Kurdish people and has instead prioritized personal enrichment at the expense of public welfare.
